A former Special Adviser to Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel on Political, Legislative and Water Resources, Dr. Ekong Sampson, has joined the race for the South Senatorial District.

Sampson, the former commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources, and a two terms legislative, who represented Mkpat Enin Constituency in the House of Assembly, said having worked as an aide to Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma between 1999 and 2007 he was versed in the workings of the Senate

Sampson disclosed this yesterday at Ikot Abasi Local Government after his endorsement by stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Eket Senatorial District that the Senate was an institution driven by capacity and experience and required people with mental range, pace and deep understanding of the complexities and pluralistic nature of Nigeria.

He said if given the opportunity, he would use the Senate as a major bridge building component to build bridges among the pluralities in the district.

  1. That's a very good development, one thing that really stands him out is his starting point from being the helmsman in his local government area at where he performed creditably and earned the confidence of his people which propelled him to the state legislature.
I see him the best candidate to represent Akwa ibom South and God will see him through.
