Governor Udom Emmanuel has assured Akwa Ibom people of his commitment towards attracting more investors and Foreign Direct Investment to boost the economy of Akwa Ibom State before the end of his administration next year.
Governor Udom Emmanuel made this known on Thursday at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, on arrival from an Annual Investment Meeting Dubai 2022.
The Governor stated that Akwa Ibom took advantage of the business summit to project its investment opportunities to global investors , private corporations, financial institutions, economic experts around the world.
He said that the State's brand name ‘IBOM' was well appreciated at the summit with major interests in the three major areas of Deep seaport, Industrial City and the Science Park that will attract huge Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the state.
"You know that we gave an assurance that we will work to the last day in office. I want to let you know that we were well received.
"I want to reassure you that the brand ' Ibom’ anywhere you mention will not go unnoticed especially in the business world.
"Our main attraction is trying to sell our Ibom Deep Seaport, Ibom Industrial City, because of the restrictions in China, we are trying to see how we partner another company for the Ibom Science Park because I believe that is the way forward. If we can get our ICT right a whole lot of our youths will be engaged."
The Chief Executive however expressed optimism that before the end of his administration two new factories will be added to the number of factories and industries in the State saying what would facilitate more investments will be an opportunity for the market to source equity.
Governor Emmanuel pointed out that the state has a lot of opportunities which investors affirmed will encourage investment, assuring that his administration will work tirelessly to ensure that the state attracts more Foreign Direct Investments (FDI).
Meanwhile, Governor Emmanuel later led a delegation of government functionaries and other eminent personalities to a funeral service of the deceased Lead Pastor of God’s House of Refuge, Pastor Ezekiel Atang.
Affirming that it is not the year of a man that counts, but the life he lives, Governor Emmanuel said the size and composition of the crowd that thronged the funeral service to honour the Late Pastor Atang attested of how impactful his near-fifty years life had been, describing him as one of Akwa Ibom’s most credible clergyman.
Recalling the days of his interaction with the late cleric, the Governor further described Late Atang as a very good brother with an indebt understanding of the word of God in humility, adding that the message of the death of the deceased cleric put him in a feeling of dismay and great pain.
“Pastor Ezekiel Atang touched and impacted the lives of millions of people. He was such a good friend that anytime you call upon him, on any front, he will always be there. As you see him, the radiance on his face, so clear was his heart at any point in time.
"In my opinion, he was one of the most credible pastors we had in this state, in all ramifications. Whether he finished his work or not, he could have stayed a little longer so that we continue to share the fellowship”.
Udom Emmanuel encouraging members of the church to stay put and sustain the vision of the departed Man of God, said “the way we know those who were loyal and really standing, not having him as a father only when he was alive, is all those that will stay put to continue for his dreams in God’s House of Refuge”, adding that he hopes to see the church wax much stronger and Pastor Atang’s teachings sustained.
Highpoint of the event was the unveiling of a book “School of Marriage: The Legacy Edition”, a compilation of 50 of his books, which he was working on before his demise, as Governor Udom Emmanuel launched the book on behalf of his family and purchased some copies for worshippers of the Church.
Pastor George Izunwa of the Gateway Christian Centre, in his homily culled from James 4:13-17, admonished the living against procrastination in putting God-given talents to work.
The Preacher said the reason the world is celebrating the Late Pastor Atang who died before fifty is because he had an inner sense of urgency to impact the lives he needed to impact well enough before his demise.
He therefore urged all to work with a sense of urgency while alive, to be celebrated at exit or only be mourned with regrets.
