Wife of Akwa Ibom state Governor Her Excellency, Pastor Patient Umo Eno has declared her full support to Mr John Obot, who is currently attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Reading Aloud by an individual in uyo, the state capital.
The first lady made the support yesterday at the venue of the Marathon Reading, Watbridge Hotels, Uyo, she applauded the intended record breaker who is attempting to read aloud for 145 hours, for his brave undertaking.
Arrived the venue at about 2:54pm when the reader had completed 46 hours of reading aloud, Pastor Patient Eno described the official attempt by Mr. John Obot to be worthy of emulation by every young mind, added that reading does not only expose the mind beyond borders, but it builds the intellectual mobility of readers.
She Observed that majority of the 42 books selected for the exercise were authored by Akwa Ibom Indigenes, commended the Readmania crew for excellent coordination of the process,
Mrs Eno urged all Akwa Ibom youths to imbibe reading as a culture, adding that readers are better armed to scale through life's perils.
"My visit today is not just to encourage the reader alone, but to encourage every other person particularly the youths of Akwa Ibom State to begin to emulate this, to let the world know who they are. There are so many things the youths can do to speak about themselves that is embedded in them. This is a good thing to emulate," she noted.
On hand to receive the State First Lady was the Programme Coordinator of Readmania, Dr. Udeme Nana who briefed the Governor's wife on Obot's attempt which, according to him, was to promote books authored by Akwa Ibom people as well as encourage the reading culture in Akwa Ibom State.
He expressed delight that Pastor Patience Eno despite her very busy schedule, had made out time to visit and show support to Mr. John Obot, saying it signifies the premium she has placed on reading.
