In a remarkable act of generosity and compassion, over 200 individuals benefited from the 2024 free medical outreach organized by the Dr. Kenneth Ebong Foundation, with support from POTENT GROUP.
The outreach, held recently at Living Faith Church, Ekput, in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, of Akwa Ibom state was part of the Gilead Medical Outreach under Living Faith Church's initiative.
This year's outreach marked the second edition of the free medical initiative, following the successful March 2024 edition. The event kicked off at the church facility built and generously donated by Dr. Kenneth Utibe Ebong, the MD/CEO of POTENT GROUP.
The event saw hundreds of community members gathering at the church grounds, eager to receive medical assistance.
Upon arrival, the medical team, accompanied by Dr. Kenneth Ebong, began the consultation process immediately. Dr. Ebong, who had overseen the registration, ensured that the entire operation ran smoothly.
The services provided included routine health checkups, drug prescriptions, eye tests, and the provision of free eyeglasses. For more critical cases, patients were referred to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital for further medical care.
Dr. Ebong expressed satisfaction with the improvements made since the March edition, which had faced some logistical challenges.
He mentioned that the December outreach was better organized, resulting in a seamless experience for both the medical team and the beneficiaries. The three-day outreach concluded recently with the distribution of essential food items such as rice, yam, and Indomie noodles to widows, children, and other vulnerable members of the community.
Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, with Mrs. Bassey Edem Akwa, the Headmistress of a local primary school, offering special praise. She described Dr. Ebong’s selfless contribution as rare, especially in a community where many people, despite their wealth, fail to show such generosity.
Mrs. Akwa also commended the medical team for their professionalism and the high quality of care provided.
In response to the outpouring of appreciation, Dr. Kenneth Ebong explained that his motivation for the outreach was not driven by wealth, but by a genuine desire to help those in need, particularly during the festive season.
According to him, "The aim is to give back to the community, to offer whatever I can in the spirit of love and generosity, this year’s event was an improvement over the March edition, and we plan to make next year even better."
Dr. Ebong also encouraged other well-meaning individuals and groups, especially from Akwa Ibom and the surrounding areas, to join in supporting such initiatives. "Together, we can bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most," he said.
The December 2024 outreach, which cost approximately N3.5 million, served as a powerful reminder of the impact that community support and compassion can have. By providing vital medical services and food assistance, the event helped improve the lives of many individuals in need.
